(May 18, 2010) Love him or hate him, most people know who Chris Berman is, and that’s enough to get recognition on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Berman, an ESPN anchor virtually since the network’s inception in 1979, will be honored with a star on Hollywood’s famed sidewalk a week from today. Among the others to be honored through the course of 2010 include director James Cameron, actors Russell Crowe, John Cusack, Colin Firth, Adam Sandler, Emma Thompson and Mark Wahlberg, and musicians Bryan Adams, Van Morrison, Ringo Starr, ZZ Top and Roy Orbison (posthumously).

“A star on Hollywood Boulevard is an iconic honor that has literally blown me away,” said Berman, who, if that statement were true, wouldn’t be able to attend the ceremony. (If he was literally blown away, he would be in no shape to fly to Hollywood.)

Berman, who recently signed a contract extension, is a six-time National Sportscaster of the Year selection. The selection of a sports broadcaster for a Hollywood star isn’t unprecedented. Longtime Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully has a spot on the Walk of Fame.
