Chad Hartman to WCCOCourtesy
Minneapolis Star Tribune
(May 13, 2010) The latest flurry of lineup changes is wrapped up at WCCO Radio. The "Good Neighbor" announced Thursday that Chad Hartman will take over the 9 a.m.-noon weekday slot at AM 830.
Hartman, 44, starts his new job Monday. He had been on KFAN Radio (AM 1130) for many years before being let go more than a year ago as part of a larger corporate down-sizing. Hartman has had nearly 20 years in sports talk radio. Most of that run included doing play-by-play announcing for the Timberwolves. The WCCO host roster has undergone a substantial makeover for the past many months. "We are completely done, we are now finished," said WCCO program director Wendy Paulson. Susie Jones, who had been in the 9-noon slot, will move to the station's news department and be heard during Hartman's show and others, Paulson said. Jones had Eleanor Mondale as a co-host until Mondale had to leave the air last year because of recurring brain cancer. Hartman's Friday duty is trimmed to 10-noon because of Gov. Tim Pawlenty's regular one-hour show at 9 a.m. Fridays. "WCCO's lengthy list of legendary broadcasters is familiar to anyone who has listened to 830 over the years," the station's announcement quoted Hartman as saying. "Starting Monday, I am truly humbled at the chance to work with so many talented individuals on and off the air." One of those individuals is his father, Star Tribune sports columnist Sid Hartman, who does brief segments for the station and a regular talk show on Sunday mornings. The station said in its announcement that the younger Hartman's show will focus on top local and national stories "that range from the serious to the ridiculous and everything in between. Hartman will take a look at these stories and go directly to the heart of them." The station also announced Thursday that John Hines will move to 8-10 p.m. Other recent additions to the WCCO lineup include: John Williams (1-3 p.m.) and Tommy Mischke (10-midnight). _______________________
