(May 12, 2010) When Bengals fans tune in to television to watch the preseason, a familiar voice will be heard calling the play-by-play.

The Bengals announced Wednesday that popular local broadcaster Dan Hoard has joined the team as the new play-by-play announces for the Bengals Preseason TV network.

Hoard currently works as the radio voice of the University of Cincinnati football and basketball teams and the radio and television voice of the Pawtuckett Red Sox, one of the nation's top Class AAA baseball clubs. The Bengals say Hoard will break from baseball duty as needed this summer for preseason football.

“Dan is a highly-regarded announcer and we are very excited to have him join our telecasts,” said Vince Cicero, Bengals director of corporate sales and marketing. “He has great respect and recognition in our area as a knowledgeable broadcaster with a comfortable, no-nonsense style.”

“I am beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to do Bengals broadcasts,” said Hoard, a native of Lakewood, N.Y., and a graduate of Syracuse University. “I am a big supporter of the Bengals and still follow the team avidly.”

Hoard will be joined in the booth with Bengals Hall of Fame offensive tackle Anthony Munoz, who is entering his 13th season as an analyst on the preseason telecasts. Mike Valpredo will return for his sixth season as the sideline reporter.

The broadcast trio will do three team-produced telecasts of Bengals preseason games, which will be:

Sunday, August 15 Bengals vs. Denver 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, August 28 Bengals at Buffalo 6:30 p.m.

Thursday, September 2 Bengals at Indianapolis 7:00 p.m.

Two other Bengals preseason games will be national network broadcasts, the Aug. 8 Hall of Fame Game vs. Dallas and the Aug. 20 home game against Philadelphia.
