(April 30, 2010) After seven years with KOCO-5, Mark Rodgers will resign as KOCO-5 sports director on May 30, the station announced today. Rodgers has been hired as marketing director for the Lucky Star Casino, and he will continue to host a noon to 2 p.m. talk show on the Sports Animal radio network.

Rodgers, a 1988 graduate of Blackwell High School and a 1992 graduate of Oklahoma, said he was looking forward to spending more time with his 5-year-old son Jack.

"It gives me freedom in the evenings where I'm not working every night until 11 o'clock," he said.

Rodgers said he enjoyed his time with KOCO-5.

"I really like the (broadcast) team I've got now," he said. "I hope they promote Daniel (Holdge) to take my place. He would do a good job."

In a news release, KOCO president and general manager Brent Hensley said, "While I hate to lose Mark from our team, I respect and admire his decision to change his career path for the betterment of his family."

News director Stephanie Croswait credited Rodgers with expanding local sports coverage and helping to launch High School Playbook on KOCO.com.

"With this transition, we look to build on that legacy as we continue growth of our local coverage," Croswait said.
