(April 28, 2010) NBC Sports executive Dick Ebersol didn't make any new friends from ESPN management Monday night during the presentation of the Sports Emmy Awards in New York.

Ebersol and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones were on stage to present former broadcaster John Madden, who received a lifetime achievement award. Madden ended his career working for NBC.

Recently, Jones was in the news when he was shown on a cell phone video taking verbal shots at Bill Parcells, a former Cowboys coach, and former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow. Some news outlets, including ESPN, decided to air the video and audio of Jones, who had been drinking and talking to some fans.

During the Madden introduction, with Jones on stage, Ebersol took out a cell phone and pretended to record Jones.

"I just wanted a call out to my friends at ESPN-TMZ," Ebersol said.

At a party after the presentation of the Emmys, ESPN executives "were fuming at the remark" by Ebersol, according to a report in SportsBusiness Daily.
