STAA's, Wild Things' Gore wins awards
Press Release
| More
(April 20, 2010) Washington Wild Things broadcaster and STAA client Randy Gore of WJPA Radio has been honored with three awards from the Pennsylvania Associated Press Broadcasters Association, including first place for a feature piece on one of the Wild Things host families, the Gasos.

Gore's Fan Appreciation Day piece on the Gaso Family took first place in the Sports Feature Category. AP judges called the story about Wild Things' fans Buzzy and Maria Gaso and their two sons Jeeno and Zyron a perfect feature that was "very well done."

This was the second year in a row that Gore won best Sports Feature. Last year, Gore's report on the U.S. Softball Team's visit to CONSOL Energy Park took top honors.

The PAPBA held its annual awards banquet in Grantville, Pa., last month where Gore also received first place awards in the Spot News and Continuing Coverage Categories. As a station, WJPA took home a total of five awards at the event.

WJPA will again serve as the flagship station for the Wild Things in 2010. Gore will be joined in the booth by color commentators Mark Uriah and Bob Gregg. The season opener will air on 95.3 FM on May 21, when Washington hosts the Oakland County Cruisers at CONSOL Energy Park.
