Major changes at WQAM include IrvinCourtesy
Miami Herald
(April 16, 2010) WQAM 560 is moving Sid Rosenberg to mid-to-late afternoons and is close to a deal that will give former University of Miami and Dallas Cowboys star Michael Irvin an early afternoon show on the station.Beginning Monday, Rosenberg will move to the 3 to 7 p.m. slot previously held by Jim Mandich, who left his 4 to 7 p.m. slot earlier this year after being diagnosed with bile duct cancer. ``It's an honor for me,'' said Rosenberg, who worked his final 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. shift on Friday. ``I will try to follow the tradition of good radio that Jim gave us.'' Orlando Alzugaray, who had been hosting from 2 to 4 p.m., will move to the 10 a.m. to noon slot, following Joe Rose's 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. show. Irvin's Dallas-based show, with co-host Kevin Kiley, will run from noon to 3 p.m., starting May 1, if a deal can be finalized as the station expects. Irvin hopes to syndicate the show nationally. Until then, Curtis Stevenson will host from noon to 3 p.m. beginning Monday. Anita Marks, who has been filling in with Stevenson during Mandich's former slot, will work part-time for the station. WQAM hopes Mandich will do occasional work for the station; he will appear on new rights-holder WINZ's Dolphins draft show on Thursday night. _______________________
