ESPN adds jobsCourtesy
Hartford Courant
(April 12, 2010) ESPN says it's bucking the bad employment market and has added jobs over the past 12 months, with about 100 more people being hired soon.
Officials from the Bristol-based sports broadcaster say its Connecticut operations now have 3,600 workers, about 200 more than in spring 2009. The network has about 6,000 employees nationwide. It attributes its growth to new online and mobile services, and technology projects such as high-definition and 3-D broadcasting. Company officials announced the figures last week as part of the opening of the largest building to date on ESPN's 17-building campus. The company plans to break ground this year on a 50,000-square-foot child care facility and is adding offices and a cafeteria in another building. _______________________
