Dodgers, KABC extend deal
Press Release

(April 4, 2010) The Los Angeles Dodgers and KABC Talk Radio 790 have extended their partnership through the 2011 season, it was announced today. The 2010 season marks the 28th year in which the Dodgers have been on KABC, including a 25-year stint from 1973-97.

“The momentum that we built with KABC in the second half of last season, combined with the quality of the broadcast and signal strength makes KABC the place where we desire to be,” said Dodger Chief Revenue Officer Michael Young. “We are grateful for our close relationship with Bob Moore and his entire staff and we are encouraged by the smooth process that we have developed regarding our coordinated sales efforts.”

More than 800,000 additional listeners tuned into Dodger baseball on KABC in 2009, bringing the total to more than 1.6 million listeners by October, which includes postseason ratings that were the highest in recent history. Hall of Famer Vin Scully, who calls the first three innings of all home games and those road games against Western Division opponents, is entering his 61st season for the Dodgers. Former Dodger outfielder Rick Monday begins his 17th season behind the mic in Los Angeles while Charley Steiner enters his sixth season with the Dodgers. The trio was rated baseball’s best broadcast team by USA Today in 2005 based on a technical rating, a fan rating and an entertainment rating.

The award-winning postgame show, Dodgertalk, featuring Ken Levine and STAA client Josh Suchon, is back for the third consecutive season in addition to pre- and postgame shows that keep Dodger fans informed on all of the latest news and information about the team. The duo also hosts the Sunday Night Sports Final each week.

“KABC and Citadel are extremely excited about continuing our partnership with the Dodgers and we look forward to the creative new opportunities that will exist in the coming seasons,” said General Manager Bob Moore. “What was once a simple radio rights deal is truly a fully integrated marketing and broadcasting partnership and we’re looking forward keeping Dodger baseball on the air.”

In addition to broadcasting all 162 regular-season games and 16 Spring Training games, the highly-rated AM station will partner with the Dodgers on a fully-integrated marketing campaign, promoting the team on sister station 95.5 KLOS FM and in an outdoor advertising campaign.

KABC’s radio signal covers all five counties in Los Angeles and the station will continue to provide the game broadcasts and pre- and post-game shows to the entire Dodger Radio Network, which includes 23 stations across the state and country.
