(April 2, 2010) If you want to hear Brian Kelly’s first season at Notre Dame, you’ll need to dial up 1160 WQRT-AM. Yep, STAA client Andy Furman and the gang are cheer, cheer, cheering for old Notre Dame today. The first big sports rights deal for RealTalk 1160 AM comes two months after the station launched its first local show, “The Furman Factor” 5-7 p.m. weekdays.

1160 AM folks say Cincinnati has one of the biggest ND alumni groups, because of the huge Catholic population here. They also say Clear Channel, with several Notre Dame grads on the payroll here, was interested in the Fighting Irish games for Kelly’s first season after leaving UC — but where could Clear Channel put them with commitments to air UC, Louisville and UK? (This just in at 5:30 p.m.: Clear Channel’s Darryl Parks says his stations were not interested in Notre Dame games.)

RealTalk 1160 AM kicks off the football season with Purdue in South Bend at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4.
