Dodgers, KABC close to extensionCourtesy
Los Angeles Daily Breeze
(April 2, 2010) The Dodgers and flagship station KABC-AM (790) will soon announce a one-year contract extension, probably by Monday's Opening Day, industry sources say.
That would take the contract through 2011. In October, 2007, the Dodgers went back to KABC, their partner from 1973-'97, after a five-year run with KFWB-AM (980). There has been internal discussion within the Dodgers front office that taking the broadcast in-house and buying a radio station -- which the Angels' Arte Moreno did with KLAA-AM (830) -- would be the next logical step in controlling the message. _______________________
