710 ESPN, AM 830 LA partnering
(March 21, 2010) 710 ESPN (KSPN) and AM 830 KLAA, owned by The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, have announced a partnership that effective April 5, 2010, AM 830 will carry ESPN Radio's national weekday programming and 710 ESPN will simulcast at least 60 Angels games this season and sell advertising for both radio stations.
The new station will be referred to as AM 830 - "Angels Radio in Association with ESPN." All Angels play-by-play will be broadcast on AM 830 with approximately 60 select games simulcast on 710 ESPN. "We're very excited about expanding the presence of ESPN in Southern California and renewing our relationship with the Angels," said Chris Berry, 710 ESPN Radio's vice president and general manager. "This association will enhance what is already a powerful lineup of play-by-play partners, including the Lakers and USC." New AM 830 Programming lineup effective April 5th, 2010 (Monday-Friday): 3a-7a: Mike & Mike in the Morning 3a-7a: Mike & Mike in the Morning "We are very pleased and proud of the new partnership between ESPN Radio and the Angels' organization," said Tim McCarthy, senior vice president of ESPN Radio Group. "From an ESPN perspective, Southern California Sports Fans will now be able to experience our complete Radio line-up including The Scott Van Pelt Show and The Doug Gottlieb Show. This is especially exciting for Doug, as he will now be heard in his native Orange County." The programming content will be the responsibility of Larry Gifford, 710 ESPN program director. AM 830 KLAA will continue to be operated by the Angels and remain under the direction of AM 830 President, Dennis Kuhl. "This partnership with ESPN Radio will allow listeners of KLAA AM 830 the opportunity to follow sports both on the local and national level," said Dennis Kuhl, President of AM 830. "In addition to the excitement of Angels Baseball, Ducks Hockey, and Notre Dame Football, Southern California fans will have access to up-to-date news and interviews with key personalities in the world of sports through ESPN's Scott Van Pelt and Doug Gottlieb." _______________________
