(March 17, 2010) On Tuesday afternoon, TBS sent out a news release about the package of Major League Baseball telecasts it will carry on Sundays.
TBS said the TV voice of the Brewers, Brian Anderson, would be part of TBS' roster of broadcasters for those games. A network spokesman said Anderson will handle the first nine games of the TBS inventory, starting April 11 when the New York Yankees play at the Tampa Bay Rays. When Brewers spokesman Tyler Barnes was reached later for comment, he said the arrangement for Anderson's availability for the TBS games had not been made final. A spokesman for Turner Sports later called to say the number of games Anderson will do for the network has not been determined. Barnes said later Tuesday that the TBS release was premature and that the Brewers "have discussed Brian doing some work for them, but there is no deal in place at this point." Anderson has worked for Turner Sports in the playoffs since 2008 but not in the regular season. According to TBS, Anderson would work with a rotating set of game analysts - Ron Darling,Buck Martinez or newcomer John Smoltz. One game Anderson could work for TBS comes April 25, when the Chicago Cubs play at Miller Park against the Brewers. The TBS telecast is to be blacked out in the Milwaukee and Chicago markets. Anderson could not be reached for comment. _______________________
