DirectTV finally strikes deal with VersusCourtesy
Albany Times-Union
(March 16, 2010) DirecTV and Versus, which has been off the satellite service since Sept. 1, have reached a contact agreement, and the network that carries NHL games among other inventory was on the air this morning.
Versus will return to the same programming package it was on when it left the air, DirecTV officials said. The channel again will be on Ch. 603 of the systems. In addition to being the NHL’s cable rightsholder, the network carries college football and basketball, UFC mixed-martial arts and the Tour de France. Statement from Derek Chang, executive vice president, content strategy and development, of DirecTV: “We are pleased that both sides were able to work out a satisfactory deal to bring this programming back to our customers.” From Jamie Davis, president of Versus: “We’re excited that we were able to come to a fair agreement that puts Versus back in millions of homes with DirecTV in time for our busy spring programming schedule. We look forward to super-serving these fans with NHL regular–season and playoff coverage, our first live UFC event and much more.” _______________________
