RedHawks baseball returning to KTOK
Press Release

(March 15, 2010) All the action of the 2010 Oklahoma City RedHawks’ season will air live on radio thanks to an agreement between the team and Clear Channel Radio.

For the second straight season, the flagship station of the RedHawks Radio Network is News Radio 1000 KTOK in Oklahoma City. The AM giant will air 110 of the 144-game schedule, with afternoon or early-evening contests on sister station 1340 AM Fox Sports.

“Our franchise is excited about our partnership with Clear Channel Radio to bring all the exciting action of RedHawks baseball to Oklahoma City,” said RedHawks Executive Director John Allgood. “Further, as the flagship station, KTOK offers an excellent base for our radio network throughout the state.”

In addition to all the play-by-play, the broadcasts will feature a pre-game show airing 20 minutes prior to the first pitch with interviews of RedHawks, opponents and other prominent baseball figures, plus a 15-minute post-game with scores, recaps and game highlights. Jim Byers returns for his 11th season as the RedHawks’ lead play-by-play voice. He’ll be joined on home games by STAA client Judson Richards, who comes to the RedHawks after serving in 2009 as play-by-play voice of the San Angelo Colts of the independent United League. Richards, a former player in the San Francisco Giants’ organization, will assist in the RedHawks’ sales and media relations efforts in addition to contributing to all facets of the home broadcasts.

The Texas Rangers enter this season with the No. 2 farm system as rated by Baseball America. The RedHawks are likely to feature four of the team’s top 10 prospects: first baseman Justin Smoak (No. 2), right-handed pitcher Tanner Scheppers (No. 4), left-handed pitcher Kasey Kiker (No. 6) and outfielder Mitch Moreland (No. 8).
