March 4, 2010) The NBA Development League Rio Grande Valley Vipers have announced that Director of Communications and radio home color commentator/road studio host Jonah Goldberg will fill-in as the play-by-play broadcaster for the Vipers’ games in Bakersfield on Friday and Saturday. Goldberg is an STAA client.

Each game begins at 9:00 p.m. with an 8:45 pre-game show on 104.9 Jack FM (95.3 FM on South Padre Island). Fellow STAA client Alex Del Barrio, the Voice of the Vipers, will fill Goldberg’s studio host role on Saturday.

“We value Jonah's contributions to our broadcasts and I am excited to offer him the opportunity to call these two games. The D-League is about development. This opportunity will allow Jonah to develop his play-by-play skills even further to make himself more marketable for future broadcast opportunities with a Division 1 college program, the D-League, WNBA, or NBA,” said Del Barrio, who is also the Vipers Director of Basketball Operations.

This will not be the first time Goldberg has performed play-by-play for a Vipers broadcast. On Monday, he announced the first quarter as a warm-up for this weekend. Goldberg flew solo for two broadcasts last season as well. Goldberg has previously done basketball play-by-play for the University of Texas Pan-American men’s and women’s teams during the 2007-08 season and for Boston University women’s basketball for the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons. Goldberg was also contracted to give play-by-play for eight high school basketball games during the South Padre Island Beach Bonanza in December. During the off-season, Goldberg serves as the voice of United League Baseball’s Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings in Harlingen. Overall, Goldberg has 702 career broadcasts on his resume.
