Hi-def year for BrewersCourtesy
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
(February 25, 2010) Fox Sports Wisconsin, which produces all Milwaukee Brewers telecasts, for the first time will offer its entire inventory of Brewers games in high definition.
The regional sports network and the Brewers announced Wednesday that all 136 of FS Wisconsin's telecasts this season will be in high def. In addition, WMLW-TV (Channel 41) will carry 15 Brewers games, none in HD. Another six games are scheduled for national television, so 157 of all 162 Brewers games will be televised this season. Counting the six games on national TV that will be available in HD, 142 Brewers games this season can be seen in HD. According to The Nielsen Co., 33% of television homes in the U.S. had high definition sets in 2009. Brian Anderson, working his fourth season for the Brewers, and Bill Schroeder, who enters his 16th season as an analyst, will call the 151 games on FS Wisconsin and WMLW. "Brewers Live" is to air before and after Brewers telecasts with Craig Coshun, Jeff Grayson and Telly Hughes. FS Wisconsin telecasts also will feature analysis from former Brewers first base coach Davey Nelson and former Brewers pitcher Jerry Augustine, with contributions from WAUK sport talk show host and onmilwaukee.com reporter Drew Olson. FS Wisconsin first offered games in high definition in 2006, when it had 17. In '07, it offered the same number of games in HD. In '08 the number climbed to 65, and last season it was 95. In the 2009 season, the only team in the NL Central that offered fewer games in HD than the Brewers was the Pittsburgh Pirates, who had 75 games. The only team in the division that offered all of their games in HD in '09 was the Chicago Cubs. The games on WMLW will be simulcast by FS Wisconsin outside Milwaukee on satellite and cable. _______________________
