Ex-sportscaster Anthony Schrage dies at 72Courtesy

(February 12, 2010) Anthony W. Schrage, known as "Tony Trent" in the radio business, 72, of Chatham died Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at 6:18 a.m. at St. John's Hospice.
Anthony was born May 26, 1937, in Highland, IL, the son of Anton and Frances Middeke Schrage. He married Cecilia "Ceil" Ann Mikulich on June 29, 1963. His professional career was spent in broadcasting and insurance. He spent 20 years in sales for WCVS radio and also served as a sportscaster and on-air personality. Most of his insurance career was spent at Combined Insurance of America. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker in Chatham, Knights of Columbus Council 4179, for whom he was a former Grand Knight. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Rams as well as U of I football and basketball. He is survived by his wife, Ceil; sons, Charles J. (wife, Joanna K.) Schrage of Springfield and Daniel A. (wife, Toni) Schrage of Chatham; granddaughters, Samantha, Macy and Lauren Schrage; sisters, Marie (husband, Francis) Isert of Highland, Bertha Kampwerth of St. Rose, IL, Dolores Graning of Humboldt, TN, Ruth (husband, Clarence) Korte of Grant Fork, IL, and Florence (husband, David) Luechtefeld, of Okawville, IL; brother, Andrew (wife, Florence) Schrage of Highland; sisters-in-law, Rita Schrage of St. Rose, Joanne Schrage of St. Rose, Peggy Schrage of St. Louis and Rosemary Redding-Ballard of Canton, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Vincent, Edmund, Clarence and David Schrage; sister, Casean Schrage; and brother-in-law, Maurice Kampwerth. Anthony's family will greet friends following a prayer service at 5 until 8 p.m. on Monday, February 15, at St. Joseph's the Worker, 700 East Spruce, Chatham, where his Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 16, with Father John Nolan officiating. Burial will follow in Chatham Memorial Cemetery. Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham is serving his family.
