Travelers renew with The Sports AnimalPress Release
(February 4, 2010) The Arkansas Travelers have reached an agreement with Citadel Broadcasting to air radio broadcasts of all home and road games for the 2010 and 2011 seasons on Sports Animal 920 (KARN-AM).
"Our fans were very happy with the Sports Animal 920 as our flagship station last year," said Phil Elson (left), who will return for his tenth season as Voice of the Travs. "For so many years, 920 AM was the place to pick up Travs broadcasts, and returning the Travs to their rightful place on the dial is a natural for us. We've enjoyed our working relationship with all the folks at Citadel Broadcasting and look forward to many more years together." In April 2009, KARN 920 AM flipped to an all-sports format after running a simulcast of the news-talk on KARN News Radio 102.9 FM for five years. Along with Travs baseball, Sports Animal 920 also carries UALR women's basketball and Dallas Cowboys play-by-play broadcasts. Nationally syndicated Fox Sports Radio supplies the bulk of the station's programming plus the "Shawn and Wally Show" heard statewide on the Arkansas Radio Network. "We are very excited to continue our partnership with the Arkansas Travelers," said Citadel Broadcasting's Little Rock Market Manager Cindy Thompson. "The Sports Animal is very proud and honored to be a part of such a rich Arkansas tradition. The Travs really are Arkansas' favorite pastime." Along with the Sports Animal's 5000-watt AM signal, all Travs games will be carried over the internet at www.sportsanimal920.com, www.travs.com, and www.milb.com. The first 2010 Travs broadcast is slated for Thursday, April 8 when the Texas League season begins in Midland, Texas. _______________________
