(January 19, 2010) Peter Gammons and John Madden (left) have been selected for induction into the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Hall of Fame, it was announced today.
Gammons and Madden will be inducted May 3 at the NSSA’s awards banquet in Salisbury, N.C. Also on the dais are national sportscaster of the year Jim Nantz of CBS and national sportswriter of the year Bob Ryan of the Boston Globe. Both are repeat winners. Also honored are the 106 winners of state sportscaster and sportswriter of the Year Awards. In New York, those honors went to Bruce Beck of WNBC-TV in New York and Phil Mushnick of the New York Post. The sportscaster of the year award is the fifth for Nantz, who trails only Bob Costas (eight) and Chris Berman (six) in that category. _______________________
