(January 18, 2010) A memorial service celebrating the life of legendary NBC 4 sportscaster George Michael is set for 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21 at the Washington National Cathedral. The cathedral is at 3101 Wisconsin Avenue N.W.Former Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs will be one of the speakers. Michael, 70, died on Christmas Eve at Sibley Memorial Hospital of complications of chronic lymphocytic leukemia. He battled leukemia for two years. His program, "The George Michael Sports Machine," changed the face of both local and national sports. _______________________
