(December 29, 2009) Entercom Memphis today announced ESPN 92.9FM/680AM SportsRadio is the new broadcast home for national and local sports journalists Gary Parrish and Geoff Calkins. The Gary Parrish Show with Geoff Calkins will debut January 4th, 2010 from 4pm-6pm.
As the lead college basketball columnist for www.CBSSports.com, Parrish has established a reputation for creative and investigative writing, won multiple national awards, and is responsible for breaking several local and national stories such as the Albert Means recruiting scandal, John Calipari's exit to Kentucky, and many more. Likewise, Calkins is the accomplished and critically acclaimed sports columnist for The Commercial Appeal. Geoff and Gary developed their radio partnership over the last two years at another local sports station and most recently received the highest Arbitron ratings for a sports show in their time period. In their respective roles Parrish and Calkins have a front row seat to all of the major sporting events like the SEC Championship, the NCAA Final Four, the Super Bowl and more. They will provide unique, personal insight on the news and events that shape the sports world. ESPN 92.9FM/680AM SportsRadio is Memphis’ first all sports radio station on the FM dial. ESPN is the worldwide leader in sports broadcasting, reaching over 97 million people each week. ESPN 92.9FM and ESPN 680AM simulcast 24 hours a day on both frequencies. Vice President and Market Manager of Entercom Memphis Dan Barron said, “The addition of Gary and Geoff to our lineup is in direct response to our listeners appetite for local sports commentary and is testament to the overwhelming positive response to ESPN 92.9FM/680AM. Gary and Geoff are both respected journalists with credible local and national reputations; bringing them to the FM dial expands their reach and our ability to better serve our listeners”. ESPN 92.9FM/ESPN 680AM SportsRadio is Memphis’ radio home of University of Tennessee football and basketball games as well as Coaches shows, and St. Louis Cardinals Baseball. _______________________
