Bob Stelton joins 101 ESPN
Press Release
(December 23, 2009) Bonneville St. Louis Radio Group and WXOS-FM announced the addition of Bob Stelton to their morning programming. He will be joining St. Louis newspaper columnist and radio veteran Bryan Burwell for station’s 9-11am shift effective Monday, January 11, 2010.

Bob Stelton has worked as a radio broadcaster for the past 12 years, and during that time he has enjoyed stints in major media markets such as Seattle, Chicago and Los Angeles. He was most recently the co-host of Sports Saturday and Sports Sunday on Sporting News Radio where he worked alongside veteran broadcaster Bob Berger. Stelton was with SNR for more than six years, from July 2002-April 2009; he was released earlier this year due to company budget cuts.

Prior to joining Sporting News Radio, Stelton worked at KJR 950 AM in Seattle from early 1997 through July 2002. He was part of the morning show for three years, and also hosted his own weekend show and served as the primary fill-in host for all day parts and shows.

Before becoming a mainstay regularly on KJR, Stelton took an active role in the station’s sports coverage, leading him to being the station's top reporter for the Seattle Supersonics and Seattle Mariners. He also was the backup studio host for the Sonics radio broadcast team and the main studio host for the Seattle Storm WNBA team - both for three years. Stelton also covered the University of Washington football team for two years.

101 ESPN Program Director Jason Barrett notes, “We are very excited about adding an experienced and professional broadcaster like Bob Stelton to our team as Bryan Burwell’s new partner. As station management went through the search process and looked at talent locally and nationally, we kept coming back to Bob. I know many others involved in this search and decision process, as well as the other show hosts inside of our building, also felt the same way about Bob.”

Barrett continues, “His passion, energy and command on the air will be huge assets to our station. Bob is very opinionated, always prepared and he has never been afraid to challenge his on-air partners when he disagrees with their viewpoint. I believe his addition to our team will help 101 ESPN continue our growth as the premier sports radio station in St. Louis”.
When asked about his pairing with Bryan Burwell, Stelton comments, “I have known Bryan casually for a number of years. He has been a guest on my show in the past and I have been a fan of his work for quite a while. Bryan is not a man who is afraid of stating his opinion, nor am I. And as a sports radio listener, that's what you want to hear. Now you’ll get two honest, opinionated guys in the same studio everyday who aren't afraid to speak the truth or disagree with each other...it's going to be electric!” Stelton adds, “I also look forward to the opportunity of setting Burwell straight, and telling him why I am right and he is wrong!"

Due to living in different cities and having an opportunity to cover various sports teams along the way, Stelton has developed many different rooting interests. He lists the St. Louis Rams and Seattle Seahawks as his favorite NFL football teams, the Seattle Mariners and NY Yankees as his favorite MLB baseball teams, and USC and Washington University as his favorite college football teams. He is also passionate about the UFC and Professional Boxing. Stelton adds that he roots for any team that plays against the Boston Red Sox or New England Patriots.
Stelton notes, “I can't wait to jump head first into the St. Louis sports culture. If there is one thing that this city is known for nationwide, it is the passion and knowledge that exists here among local sports fans. As a sports/talk show host coming to the top-rated sports radio station in St. Louis, I am truly excited about becoming a part of it!"

John Kijowski, Vice President and Market Manager for Bonneville St. Louis notes, “With his major market experience within the sport radio industry, the decision to add Bob Stelton to our station’s programming line-up was an easy decision and a smart move for 101 ESPN.” He adds, “Although we’ve already experienced tremendous success this past year with the launch of the sports/talk format on the FM dial, we knew the station would be making adjustments to the hosts and programming in order to accommodate our listener’s tastes and sports fans’ preferences.”
