Bob Knight calls game at Hinkle FieldhouseCourtesy

(December 21, 2009) Hundreds of fans packed Hinkle Fieldhouse to see Butler take on Xavier. The special guest was former IU Head Basketball Coach Bob Knight.
Knight was a play-by-play announcer for the game. He is known as an Indiana legend... with a no-nonsense attitude. "I'm amazed that you people still remember the general," said former CBS Sports Broadcaster Brent Musburger. "I played here as a sophomore on Ohio State team, that would have been in 1959," said Knight. Knight came back to Indiana as a color analyst for the Butler-Xavier game. "I think this is the first time ever that the announcer has been bigger than the players," said Butler Student Josh Albrecht. Musburger said no one is more knowledgeable about basketball than Bob Knight. "It's wonderful working with Knight because no one knows basketball any better than the coach." "He's a tremendous individual, you've got to respect what he does and he's opinionated and that's what people like about him or what people don't like about him," said Richard Bossung. Bossung also sat with Knight courtside and recorded Purdue stats when Knight coached at IU. "I find him a great guy to work with. I really never had a single problem with him all the years I was doing work at Purdue," said Bossung. "He's such a national icon and to bring that here to Butler and Hinkle, everyone here thinks so much of Hinkle and to bring the national spotlight here is just special for everyone," said Thomas Abner. _______________________
