Cardinals team expected back in 2010
(December 18, 2009) Cardinals television analyst Al Hrabosky (left), who had a very public disagreement with Cards manager Tony La Russa last summer over Hrabosky's criticism of Redbirds catcher Yadier Molina, said he is on the verge of finalizing a deal to return for his 14th season with Fox Sports Midwest and 26th overall in the Birds booth, alongside play-by-play announcer Dan McLaughlin.

And FSM general manager Jack Donovan, who said two months ago that "I don't expect any changes unless there's some surprise,'' said Thursday that no surprise is looming.

"I'm expecting no changes, with Danny and Al (returning) and Ricky Horton getting some games like last year,'' Donovan said. "I'm happy with how things are going. Our ratings are amongst the highest in baseball year after year after year. Things are going well and we'll continue to work with the same fellas."

La Russa became angry when Hrabosky called out Molina for not hustling in a game, saying on his program on KTRS (550 AM) that Hrabosky "should be ashamed of himself" for the comments and that "I'm really disappointed in Al."

Hrabosky shot back in an interview with the Post-Dispatch, saying he merely was doing his job by bringing up the fact that Molina had stopped running — with bat in hand on a popup that was dropped and resulted in a forceout. And Hrabosky added that the situation somewhat tarnished the All-Star festivities that were taking place in St. Louis as the feud simmered.

"He took a cheap shot at me and if anything, Tony's the one who has embarrassed Molina at a time when we should be celebrating Molina's great year and accomplishment as an All-Star,'' Hrabosky said then. "Now everybody in baseball is here reading about this ridiculous thing."

But the two eventually reached a truce and now Hrabosky says he never worried the dispute could lead to him not being retained.

"Not at all,'' he said. "We move forward.''
