Vikings, KFAN reach broadcast deal

(December 9, 2009) The Vikings, whose games have been broadcast on KFAN Radio since 2001, are believed to be close to a multiyear deal to remain with the Clear Channel-owned station.

The contract between the team and the all-sports station expires at the end of this season and negotiations have been ongoing in recent months. Steve LaCroix, the Vikings' vice president of sales and marketing and chief marketing officer, said Tuesday there is nothing formal to comment on at this point.

It has been speculated that executives at WCCO Radio were interested in the Vikings, but with KFAN closing in on a deal, that means the rights won't go out for a bid.
