CMU tweaks football radio teamCourtesy
The Morning Sun
(December 8, 2009) Central Michigan University has announced changes to the postseason football radio broadcast team.
Former CMU offensive lineman Brock Gutierrez will handle color commentary responsibilities for the GMAC Bowl after handling the duties during the Mid-American Conference Championship last Friday. WCFX-95.3 FM broadcaster Kent Bergstrom will do sideline reporting and post-game interviews for the team as he did on Friday. Play-by-play announcer Ryan Schulling and pregame host Don Chiodo will continue their responsibilities. Gutierrez is replacing longtime announcer Stan Shingles. CMU and Shingles could not comment on the changes, but CMU did release a statement on bringing in Gutierrez. "CMU Athletics was pleased to have Brock Gutierrez, a proud alumnus and NFL veteran, join us on the CMU Sports Network broadcast for the 2009 Mid American Conference Championship Game," CMU said in a statement. "Gutierrez will join the broadcast during the post season. Gutierrez has a lot of knowledge and passion for both CMU and the game of football." Gutierrez was a three-year CMU letterman from 1993-95. The starting center on the 1994 Mid-American Conference championship team, he blocked for all-America running back Brian Pruitt who ranked second nationally and set the Chippewas' rushing record that season. Signed as a free agent by Cincinnati in 1996, Gutierrez' 10-year NFL stint also included stops at San Francisco and Detroit. _______________________
