(December 7, 2009) With Interstate 64 reopening through St. Louis, the stretch of the roadway in the city has been officially proclaimed as "Jack Buck Highway."
The legendary broadcaster was the voice of the Cardinals from 1954 through 2001 and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1987. He died in 2002. Missouri lawmakers passed a measure this year officially naming the stretch of I-64 from the city limit to the Illinois line as Jack Buck Highway. The Missouri Department of Transportation on Monday was reopening I-64 after two years of work to rebuild more than eight miles of roadway, bridges and interchanges. _______________________
