101 ESPN cracks Top 5Press Release
(December 4, 2009) While 101 ESPN has already dominated the sports/talk arena in the St. Louis market since its inception in January 2009, the new radio station just reached another important milestone within their first year of operations. According to the latest Arbitron Survey results released yesterday, 101 ESPN is now ranked among the Top 5 radio stations in St. Louis for Men 25-54, their key listener demographic group. Program Director Jason Barrett notes, “Before 101 ESPN launched in January 2009, we promised that we would become a Top 5 rated radio station with Men 25-54 by the end of the year. We are pleased to announce today that we have lived up to our promise one month ahead of schedule, and 101 ESPN is now #5 overall with Men 25-54”. In the November PPM Monthly Release (and the third PPM currency month) 101 ESPN showed significant gains in their overall radio ratings, going from a 3.9 in September to a 4.4 in October, on to a 5.0 average share in the November survey result. The station is now tied for #5 overall for Men ages 25-54, up from eighth in the October survey. This is based on the Monday-Sunday 6am to Midnight category. A few highlights from the November 2009 Arbitron report include the following: • “The Fast Lane” Show with Randy Karraker, D’Marco Farr and Bob Ramsey is now ranked #5 among the target demo of Men 25-54 with a 5.2 share. And the 5:05 pm visits on “Rams Mondays” from Rams RB Steven Jackson registered a 10.3 for the weekly segment. • Total Audience or Cume for the “The Bernie Miklasz Show” is trending up among Men 25-54 in the St. Louis market, rising from 37,700 in October to 38,100 in November. • “Mike and Mike in the Morning” has become a ratings winner, scoring a 5.2 rating and a #7 ranking. With a Total Cume of 70,900 for the 5am-9am daypart, the “Mike & Mike” Show has the fourth highest cume in AM Drive timeslot among Men 25-54. • From Pre-Game to In-Game to Post-Game, NFL Football on 101 ESPN dominates the market on Sundays when the St. Louis Rams are in action, with a #1 ranking from 9am-6pm across the board for Persons 25-54 (10.2), Men 25-54 (13.2) and P6+ (10.1). Even during the Rams bye week on November 8, NFL game day coverage delivered an impressive audience among Men 25-54 with a 6.8 rating and #6 ranking. • Ratings on 101 ESPN during the MLB World Series were outstanding, despite the fact that the match-ups didn’t include the Cardinals. Four out of the six World Series games scored a double-digit rating among Men 25-54, and three of those games netted 101 ESPN a #1 ranking for the time slot. Vice President and Market Manager John Kijowski commented on the station’s Top 5 achievement, noting, “While we all had high hopes that the new radio station would become a ratings success, it is astounding that 101 ESPN has reached this level of popularity in less than a year.” Kijowski continues, “Bonneville International is extremely proud of the excellent work that the entire 101 ESPN team has accomplished in order to reach this goal.” _______________________
