STAA's Goldberg to broadcast hoops tourney worldwide

(December 2, 2009) The South Padre Island Convention and Visitors Bureau. and B2 Networks today announced a partnership calling for the first ever worldwide LIVE broadcast of games from the South Padre Island Beach Bonanza. The agreement calls for all games played from the South Padre Convention Center to be broadcast live on the industry leader in broadband broadcasting.

Coverage of this prestigious High School tournament will begin on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 4pm. The schedule of events calls for three games broadcast on Thursday, nine winner’s bracket games on Friday, and 7 games on Saturday. On the last day of the event all semi-finals and championship games from the consolation bracket and tournament championship will be available live.

“Not only will our players be watched locally but now they can be seen around the world! Now that’s a dream for players, coaches and recruiters, “said Dan Quandt, Executive Director South Padre Island Convention and Visitors Bureau.

STAA Client Jonah Goldberg and Danny Elizondo will handle the broadcasting duties. Goldberg is the Director of Communications for the NBA Development League’s Rio Grande Valley Vipers and United League Baseball’s Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings, with whom he earned 2009 ULB Broadcaster of the Year honors. He has 662 career broadcasts on his resume, including two seasons of the voice of Boston University women’s basketball and one as the voice of the University of Texas Pan American men’s and women’s basketball teams. Goldberg is in his third season as the color commentator for the Vipers as well.

Elizondo has spent the last two seasons as the voice of the Edinburg Roadrunners (ULB), where he teamed with Goldberg on several broadcasts when the Roadrunners played the WhiteWings. He also has experience broadcasting UTPA basketball, baseball and volleyball for Bronc Radio, where he is the Sports Director.

Beginning with the first broadcast on Thursday, games can be accessed at www.b2tv.com, with a current schedule of upcoming games also listed on the same site. Fans wanting to access the games via broadband will need a high speed internet connection and a current version of Microsoft Windows Media player. Each game can be purchased individually for a price of $7 dollars. Any valid credit card can be used to buy a broadcast during the tournament.
