Major changes coming in Houston
(November 27, 2009) As we contemplate Thanksgiving blessings, I, for one, am grateful for the consistently unsettled nature of Houston sports radio.

The latest round began Wednesday with the disclosure that Matt Jackson and Adam Wexler no longer will host shows on KILT (610 AM) and the expected announcement, as early as Monday, that they will move to KBME (790 AM). Those moves are expected to produce other changes in talk-show slots and pregame/postgame duties for the city’s assorted pro teams.

And since Houston has four sports stations, chances are there will be enough unfilled airtime that even whose who take a step back at some point have a chance to take a step forward at another station. We’ve already seen some familiar names return to the air, and others may be on the way.

So let’s hear it for free enterprise and market fragmentation.
