RailCats baseball staying on WLPR
Press Release
(November 23, 2009) Gary SouthShore RailCats games in 2010 and 2011 will be broadcast live on The Lakeshore, 89.1 FM WLPR, the two sides announced today, extending by two years a radio partnership that began in 2009.

The agreement means fans throughout Northwest Indiana will be able to listen nightly to more than 100 regular season, postseason and select exhibition games on 89.1 FM and online at www.thelakeshorefm.com and www.railcatsbaseball.com for each of the next two years.

“We could not be more pleased to add two more seasons to our agreement with The Lakeshore,” RailCats President/General Manager Roger Wexelberg said. “We enjoyed a terrific relationship with The Lakeshore this past year and are looking forward to continuing to grow our broadcast along with 89.1 FM. We are committed to letting our fans listen to RailCats baseball everywhere in Northwest Indiana, and with The Lakeshore we are confident fans are getting the best coverage and broadcast possible.”

Veteran broadcaster Andy Viano, the RailCats Director of Media Relations & Broadcasting, will return for his third season as the play-by-play voice of the RailCats in 2010.

“There are many benefits to the partnership with Lakeshore Public Radio and the RailCats. Not only does it strengthen our status as a radio sports leader, but it gives RailCats fans another way to follow the action,” Lakeshore Public Television and Lakeshore Public Radio President and CEO Tom Carroll said.

The agreement with The Lakeshore also includes a partnership with Lakeshore Public Television, where RailCats fans can watch Inside RailCats Baseball three times during the 2010 season and select RailCats Baseball Tips from players and coaches during children’s programming.

Launched in early 2009, Lakeshore Public Radio, The Lakeshore, 89.1 FM will soon serve more than 500,000 listeners in the lakeshore region with extensive local coverage. The Lakeshore broadcasts from Lowell, Indiana with offices in Merrillville, Indiana.
