STAA's Alex Reed to call Maine football championships

(November 3, 2009) Alex Reed and Rob Munzing will be providing the play-by-play and color analysis for the Maine State High School Football Championship game radio broadcast on November 21st, MBR.org and CMSB Media have announced. Matt Boutwell, who is the co-host and producer of "The Big Jab Weekend Warm-Up" on 96.3 FM, Sports Editor for Independent Publishing, and the publisher for CMSB Media, will be the sideline reporter.

Alex Reed is currently in his third season as Play by Play Voice of the Lewiston MAINEiacs. He is a 2005 graduate of Marshall University, where he also earned Master’s Degree in Public Relations in 2007.

While at Marshall, he provided play-by-play coverage of Thundering Herd football for 4 seasons, As well as baseball, softball, and basketball at WMUL-FM. Reed is a native of Virginia Beach, but moved to Maine in the fall of 2007. He currently resides in Lewiston. .

Rob Munzing is a 1975 graduate of the University of Maine where he lettered in baseball and football. He began his coaching career at Gardiner High School under the mentorship of John Wolfgram. When Coach Wolfgram left to assume the head coaching duties at South Portland, Rob began a 14 year career at the helm of the Gardiner Tigers. He led his Tigers to Eastern Maine Championships in 1991,1997 and 1998.

He retired from coaching after the 1999 season to follow the college football careers of his three sons. His son, Nate, is currently an assistant coach at Bates College.

Rob has been active in producing and broadcasting sports for Time Warner Cable. He currently produces a package of games featuring Gardiner Tiger football and basketball for rebroadcast on Time Warner Cable. In addition , he has been part of the Time Warner broadcast of the Maine Shrine Lobster.

Rob lives in Gardiner and is the Safety and Wellness Director for EJPrescott, Inc in Gardiner

“Fans attending the games should bring their radios, listen to the show while traveling, and fans not attending should listen to this event at home. With the day starting on the Big Jab 96.3 fm at 8:00 am with the “Weekend Warm-up” hosted by Jeff and Matty of the CMSB, High School football will be center stage all day long on the 100,000 watt signal of the Big Jab on 96.3 fm. Pregame show starts at 10:30 am and coverage will go through the day with plenty of interviews, call-in segments and more announcements to come," said Tom Nolette, the owner of MBR.ORG
