John Curtis settles in as voice of EverbladesCourtesy
Naples Daily News
(October 23, 2009) Over the past five years, play-by-play man Kevin Reiter became synonymous with Florida Everblades. But when Reiter accepted a promotion within the organization this offseason, president/GM Craig Brush had the tough task of replacing a local broadcasting fixture.
Enter John Curtis, a veteran ECHL broadcaster who had been out of the booth since 2005 while serving as alternate governor for a potential franchise in Myrtle Beach, S.C. “When I knew I was going back into broadcasting, I knew this was the finest place to go,” said Curtis, who has broadcast over 600 games in his career. Curtis also works in sales and public relations for the Everblades, while Reiter is now the team’s director of marketing. “I don’t think we’ll miss a beat with John behind the mic,” Brush said. “He’s got some pretty big shoes to fill but I’m confident in his ability.”ility." Curtis called his first games as the Everblades play-by-play man over the past weekend and said the response he's received has been almost all positive. "Overall the response has been great," Curtis said. "It was neat having people come up to me this week and tell me that they thought I did a good job." _______________________
