(October 22, 2009) A rousing applause, a standing ovation and a grand adios to the voice of local sports known as Billy Powers.
After entering the media world straight out of high school back in 1961, the legendary sportscaster is finally hanging up his microphone. A reporter with the Calgary Sun back when it was called the Albertan until he made the move towards sports radio, followed by a stint with the Calgary Stampeders before heading back to radio again, Mr. Powers will be receiving an all-star salute today from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ranchman's on Macleod Tr. _______________________
