STAA, NSSA partner to help sportscasters
STAA
(October 14, 2009) Two of the sports media industry’s more prominent national organizations are partnering. Sportscasters Talent Agency of America (STAA) and the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA) are combining efforts to benefit sports broadcasters nation wide.

“STAA and the NSSA each possess a unique set of valuable resources that are beneficial to members of both organizations,” says STAA CEO Jon Chelesnik. “We are now sharing those assets for the benefit of sports broadcasters around the country.”

New NSSA Executive Director Dave Goren says partnering with STAA is a significant part of his plan for making NSSA bigger and better than ever.

“I have had several sportscasters tell me that STAA is the ‘go to’ site for people in the business,” Goren says, “I figure if STAA is that important to people in our membership, then it should be important for everyone. We are trying to expand our member benefits and this partnership is one great way to go with it.”

As part of the partnership, STAA will provide web content to the NSSA and will make available a variety of sportscasting career resources to NSSA members. In return, select NSSA board members will be among the judges for the Jim Nantz Award, presented annually by STAA to the nation’s top collegiate sports broadcaster.

NSSA national board members include Nantz, ESPN anchor Chris Berman, Kansas City Chiefs broadcaster Mitch Holthus, ESPN’s Rick Reilly and legendary broadcaster Keith Jackson.

NSSA will also provide assistance in scheduling guest speakers for future STAA sports broadcasting seminars, and both organizations will contribute to cross-promotional efforts.

The purpose of NSSA is to recognize sportscasters and sportswriters of the United States for their leadership, devotion, and contributions in promoting character, integrity, sportsmanship, and physical fitness.

STAA is dedicated to helping sports broadcasters advance their careers through job placement assistance, consulting, talent coaching other resources.

“STAA and the NSSA share the same vision for helping sportscasters,” STAA CEO Chelesnik says. “Our partnership allows us to provide unprecedented career assistance to sports broadcasters around the country.”
