Ex-Chief Priest Holmes shining on TV
(September 23, 2009) Have you seen KENS' impressive weekend addition?

Former NFL star running back Priest Holmes is co-hosting the Sunday night NFL segment with sportscaster Joe Reinagel.

Reinagel said Holmes will handle the TV gig at least through football season.

Holmes played for Marshall High and the Texas Longhorns before signing on as pro with, first, Baltimore, then Kansas City. He retired in 2007 and returned to the Alamo City, where he started the Priest Holmes Foundation, which enhances the lives of young people via scholarships.

In Reinagel's words, Holmes adds quite "a great deal of credibility" to the NFL recap. He also looks and sounds good, lending a nice complement to Reinagel's own expertise.

Speaking of the latter, Reinagel deserves a hand for throwing his heart into his role as one-man sports team.

Unlike KSAT, WOAI and KABB, he has no backup sportscaster. KENS has been without one since Dyrol Joyner was cut early this year.

As a result, Reinagel, a 13-year station vet, has been putting in a seven-day workweek. However, he said photographer Marcus Floyd has been a tremendous help.
