Clarksville launches new sports show
(August 28, 2009) Two provocative sports voices are joining each other on Clarksville’s radio waves.

James D. Horne, The Leaf-Chronicle’s Austin Peay Beat Writer, has joined Felix Diaz as a co-host of the Afternoon Blitz on ESPN Radio AM 540 WKFN, a Five Star Radio Group station.

Diaz, who’s co-hosted the show for the past year, and Horne will continue their talk blitz every Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Horne, who had been guest-hosting the show for the past few weeks, became the permanent co-host Monday.

The two will talk about everything sports, from the big national stories – including the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and NASCAR – to the local sports scene on Clarksville’s only live daily afternoon radio sports show.

Horne joined The Leaf-Chronicle in October 2003 as the prep writer and moved to the Austin Peay beat in April 2006. He also contributes his popular sports column every Friday in The Leaf-Chronicle's sports section, and produces online video coverage of APSU sports on theleafchronicle.com. Starting soon, video of the Afternoon Blitz will be streamed live online at the newspaper's Web site. The video of the show can also be replayed and enjoyed at any time.

Horne has won three UT/Tennessee Press Association Awards for sports writing in his time at The Leaf-Chronicle, a second place in 2005 and two third places this year.

Diaz joined Five Star in February of 2007 and along with his duties on AM 540 contributes to WCVQ/Q108 107.9 FM, WEGI/Eagle 94.3 FM, WVVR FM/The Beaver 100.3 FM and WZZP/Z 97.5 FM.

Before joining Five Star, Diaz interned for 104.5 The Zone in Nashville.
