WNDE still tops in Indy sports radioCourtesy
Indianapolis Star
(August 20, 2009) Eighteen months after Eddie White and Indianapolis Star columnist Bob Kravitz launched their show on WFNI-AM (1070), John “JMV” Michael of WNDE-AM (1260) still wears the afternoon sports-talk crown.
According to Arbitron numbers published today, Michael attracted 4,700 listeners per average 15-minute segment during the months of May, June and July. White and Kravitz had 3,700 listeners per average 15-minute segment. White and Kravitz can claim more listeners per week — 31,300 to 25,600 — but Michael’s audience members spent a daily average of 3 hours, 45 minutes listening to him compared to 2 hours, 15 minutes logged by White and Kravitz loyalists. Arbitron rankings, compiled through the written diaries of listeners, are summarized in three-month blocks. “It’s becoming more of a split decision,” WFNI program manager Kent Sterling said. “Kravitz and Eddie have won a lot of individual months.” “The Drive with JMV” airs 3-7 p.m. weekdays and “Kravitz & Eddie” airs 3-6 p.m. weekdays. _______________________
