Phantoms hockey to air on 101.7Courtesy

(August 19, 2009) The Adirondack Phantoms, AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, announced Tuesday that all games will be aired on WNYQ, Adirondack Broadcast¬ing Co.’s classic hits station, 101.7 FM.
Former Albany River Rats play-by-play broadcaster Owen Newkirk (left) will be the "Voice of the Phantoms." Adirondack Broadcasting General Manager Tom Bar¬ney said, "WNYQ 101.7 is an FM station that covers the North Country and Phantom hockey is the only sports team the station will carry so there will be able to broadcast every game of the 80-game season plus any playoff games. Q-101.7 will carry other Phantom programming like a weekly talk show and a coach’s show." The team will also partner with Adirondack Broadcasting to provide a free live Web stream of broadcasts, which will be accessible through the club’s Web site. _______________________
