Sportscaster Brown will fire fastballs at VickCourtesy
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
(August 14, 2009) The second most-scrutinized person in Sunday's "60 Minutes" interview with quarterback Michael Vick is going to be James Brown (left), Vick's questioner.
The good news for Brown, the host of CBS Sports' "The NFL Today," is he scored an exclusive interview with this season's most notorious National Football League free agent. The bad news is if the tone of the interview is at all soft or appears to let Vick off the hook in any manner, Brown is going to be skewered by observers. Brown, "60 Minutes," and the network have more than a little bit of credibility riding on this interview mainly because CBS Sports is a broadcast partner of the National Football League. Brown told the NFL Network his interview with Vick is "not a puff piece" and "not a PR interview at all." Brown said the main focus of the interview was to gauge the level of Vick's remorse for running a dog fighting operation for which he served 18 months in prison. A spokesman for "60 Minutes" said this week there were no conditions placed on the interview Brown did with Vick, who will be giving his first interview since his release from prison in July. _______________________
