(July 30, 2009) The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that it has signed an agreement with VERSUS, a national cable sports network in more than 75 million homes, to carry 11 of its professional basketball games throughout the 2009-10 season. The ABA Game of the Week will air on VERSUS on Saturday afternoons with a tip-off date of November 28. A complete schedule will be announced shortly."We are very pleased to join with this tremendous and fast-growing sports network. To be part of a line-up that includes NCAA basketball, the National Hockey League (NHL), the IndyCar Series and the Tour de France is very important to us," stated ABA Media Group CEO Anthony Chase. "Our new agreement with VERSUS will give U.S. viewers a chance to see the excitement of ABA pro basketball with its unique rules that have created the fastest-paced, highest-scoring basketball being played." "We look forward to the opportunity to showcase this exciting league to a national audience," said Jeff Goldberg, Vice President of Programming for VERSUS. "We're always looking to add action-packed sports properties to our programming lineup and, with the college basketball season just getting underway on the network, the addition of 11 ABA games perfectly complements our schedule at that time of the year."
