McCarthy to broadcast NFL on Sports USAPress Release
(July 21, 2009) Philadelphia Phillies play-by-play announcer Tom McCarthy will be joining the Sports USA Radio Network this fall. McCarthy will work an NFL game each Sunday at the conclusion of baseball's regular season. McCarthy's extensive play-by-play resume includes the New York Mets, Westwood One college football, college football & basketball on CBS College Sports (formerly CSTV), Rutgers University football, as well as Princeton University football & basketball.
"I am excited about the prospects of joining the Sports USA broadcasting family," said McCarthy. "I am grateful for the opportunity. To go to a different NFL venue each week and do the best games on the schedule, is something I am genuinely looking forward to." McCarthy earned a Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award in 2000 and the Achievement in Radio Award for Best Local Sports Coverage 2002 & 2004. In January of 2007, he received the Radio/TV Excellence Award from the New Jersey Sportswriters Association. "I've listened to Tom's play by play work for years, and consider him to be among the elite." Said Sports USA Radio President Larry Kahn. "We are thrilled to have him join the Sports USA family."
