MCNAIR HOT TOPIC ON SPORTS RADIO
(July 7, 2009) Beyond the usual chatter on sports talk radio about records broken on the playing fields, there was talk about McNair's personal life.

Thom Abraham with Sports Radio 560 WNSR was trying to strike a balance with his coverage making sure the blaring headlines of McNair's homicide investigation, did not overcome the football great's legacy.

"I think he was respected as much as any player that played the game because of toughness," said Abraham. "There is a certain segment of people out there that are talking about the circumstances about what happened, and they are very angry and upset with it."

McNair reportedly had a romantic relationship with 20-year-old Sahel Kazemi, even though he was married with four children.

"In a way it may have gotten him in trouble a little bit, the guy is hanging out at Dave and Busters, talking to a waitress, those are the type of things that you have to be careful with," said Abraham. "We don't know these guys, we think we know them, because we watch them on Sunday."

The details have shaped the nature of calls into the radio show. Former Titan's player and McNair's teammate Brad Hopkins also joined the show to speak about McNair.

"It was friendship, it was kinship, it was brotherhood, it was all these things, and to say he was any less of a man because of the things he was involved in, that is ridiculous," said Hopkins.
