SPORTSCASTER MCELLIGOTT JOINS BLUE JACKETS RADIO
Press Release
The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have added long-time Crunch broadcaster Bob McElligott to the club's broadcast team. He will join veteran play-by-play announcer George Matthews on all games broadcast via the Columbus Blue Jackets Radio Network, including flagship stations WBNS-AM, Sports Radio 1460 The Fan, and WWCD-FM, CD 101.

In addition to performing his in-game duties on the Blue Jackets' radio broadcasts, McElligott will host the radio pre and post-game shows as well as club ancillary programming. He will also be a regular contributor on Bluejackets.com, the club's official website, with video features on Jackets TV as well as editorial content.

McElligott, 38, has spent the last 10 seasons serving as the Crunch's radio broadcaster on SportsRadio 620 WHEN and as the team's host for televised games on Time Warner Cable, calling over 800 Crunch contests during that span.

In addition to his work with the Crunch, the Somerset, Pennsylvania native has been the radio and television voice of the Syracuse Chiefs, the current International League affiliate of the Washington Nationals, and hosted a weekly one-hour radio show since 2000.

In 2007, he served as the radio broadcaster for the Triple-A Baseball All-Star Game. He also has been a morning sports anchor on Syracuse radio stations WSEN-FM, WFBL-AM and WOLF-FM since 2004 and has broadcast Syracuse University football and basketball games for ESPN 360, as well as a variety of college and high school sports for Time Warner Cable.

Prior to his arrival in Syracuse, McElligott worked with the ECHL's Johnstown Chiefs as well as six years calling baseball action in the Carolina League (Single-A) with Kinston, Wilmington, Prince William and Salem. He and his wife, Kathy, are the parents of sons, Matthew and Braden.
