VETERAN HOCKEY SPORTSCASTER JAEGER DIES

(June 22, 2009) The former voice of the Prince Albert Raiders will sound no more. Morley Richard Jaeger, the longtime broadcaster of the team, passed away Sunday at the age of 72.
Jaeger was the voice of play-by-play broadcaster for 16 seasons of Prince Albert Raider hockey, totalling 1,272 games on 900 CKBI, according to the Raiders. The club announced Jaeger's passing Sunday evening. Jaeger began during the first season of the Raiders in 1972 and continued through 1988, calling all four Centennial Cup championship games when the team was in junior A and the Raiders Memorial Cup championship in 1985. Details on a celebration of Jaeger's life will be announced later this week. |
