ODU ATHLETICS TO AIR ON MAX MEDIA
Press Release
(June 8, 2009) Old Dominion University athletic director Jim Jarrett and ODU Sports Properties, the marketing and media rights partner for ODU athletics, announced today that all of its football, men's and women's basketball game broadcasts and coaches shows will be broadcast on Max Media owned station Star 94.1 FM - WXEZ through the 2011-12 seasons.

Beginning this fall, all the coaches call-in shows, will move from ESPN Radio 1310 (AM) to Star 94.1 FM - WXEZ, a 40,000 watt station with a signal strength that stretches to the Northern Neck and Eastern Shore, west to Williamsburg and south to northeastern North Carolina. In addition, selected games will continue to be simulcast on WGAI AM 560 in Elizabeth City, increasing the coverage area to the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

The ODU football show, featuring head coach Bobby Wilder, will air Thursday nights for 13 weeks from 7-8 p.m., beginning Sept. 3, while the men's and women's basketball call in shows will continue to air on Mondays and Tuesdays, respectively, for 17 weeks during the season.

"We are delighted that ODU Sports Properties has helped us negotiate a new radio contract that will provide a stronger signal and expand the listening audience for our basketball and football programs," says Debbie White, ODU senior associate athletic director. "By placing all of our games and shows on Star 94.1 FM - WXEZ, our fans throughout Hampton Roads and the outlying areas will all be able to follow the teams consistently on one station throughout the season."

ODU Sports Properties, a division of CBS Sports Properties, will sell the advertising inventory in the broadcasts, as well as direct the formats and the talent.

Max Media is locally owned and operated and owns ESPN Radio 1310, WXEZ 94.1 FM (Star), 92.9 WVBW (The WAVE), 100.5 WXMM (Hot 105) and 97.3 WGH-AM (Eagle 97), along with WGAI AM 560 in Elizabeth City, NC.

"We are extremely pleased to be a part of the ODU family for another three years", says Eric Mastel - President of Max Media's Radio Division. "We look forward to continuing our 19 year relationship with Old Dominion University. We are honored for the opportunity to provide the Hampton Roads Community with local college sports coverage".
