BARRALE, WIESE LAND KFNS SPORTS TALK SHOW
Press Release
(June 3, 2009) St. Louis, Mo – Late night sports talk has returned to St. Louis five nights a week. St. Louis natives Nick Barrale and Brendan Wiese are teaming up for a two hour sports show that will air on KFNS Radio Monday-Friday from 10:00 pm until Midnight.

The Benchwarmers, as they are called, will be a nightly recap of the top sports stories in St. Louis and around the country.

“We are both really excited about the opportunity to work in St. Louis and talk St. Louis sports,” said Barrale. “Both of us grew up in the area, went to school in the area then left town to get experience in broadcasting with the goal of getting back to St. Louis and here we are.”

Wiese and Barrale met while attending school at Lindenwood University and while in college regularly did games and shows together on the campus radio station. For the past five years Wiese has been hosting a nightly sport show at KRMS radio in the Lake of the Ozarks talking not only St. Louis sports but also Kansas City and Missouri athletics.

Barrale took a different route after college and went into baseball play-by-play broadcasting games for minor league teams in the Phillies, Red Sox and most recently the Giants organizations. Barrale comes to St. Louis after working the past two years in Augusta, GA where he broadcasted games for the Giants Single-A team.

The idea for The Benchwarmers is two St. Louis guys sitting around talking about sports during a time in the day when people talk about sports, after the game has just ended. When it’s that time of night when a fan wants to yell, analyze, second guess or just vent on what just happened.

While part of the idea of The Benchwarmers is to ride the coattails of a marginally successful 2006 Rob Schneider movie and hopefully get a few extra hits from Google and Yahoo, the main focus is to give the best sports fans in the country a place to talk, gather and listen when they need it the most.
