GRAND RAPIDS SPORTS RADIO WBBL MOVING TO FM

(May 28, 2009) WBBL is taking its ball and leaving -- for the FM dial.
Citadel Broadcasting announced Thursday afternoon that the sports radio station known as "The Ball" will move to 107.3 FM, the former home of rock station WKLQ. The switch officially took place at 3 p.m. Thursday. WBBL had been at the 1340 AM location since going to an all-sports format in 1994. It airs a number of live events, including the West Michigan Whitecaps, Michigan State football and basketball and the Detroit Pistons, Red Wings and Tigers. The evening Tigers games still will be carried on 97 WLAV. Bret Bakita and Michael Grey will host a local morning show, "The Starting Lineup" and the "Huge Show" with Bob Simonson will continue in afternoons. WBBL also has picked up a number of national broadcasts through its partnership with Westwood One, and national talk shows, such as "The Jim Rome Show," The "Dan Patrick Show" and ESPN's "Mike & Mike in the Morning." |
