SPORTSCASTER TANNER JOINS MOTOR RACING NETWORK
(May 18, 2009) Rob Tanner - one of Charlotte, North Carolina’s, best-known radio personalities – has joined the Motor Racing Network as host of Sunday’s NASCAR U.S.A.
The program airs each week from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. (EDT) and features NASCAR updates, country music news and artists from the top of the charts. "I'm thrilled about being named host of NASCAR U.S.A.," Tanner said. "It combines two things I love: country music and racing. The show has a great history and I'm excited to be a part of it." NASCAR U.S.A. is in its 10th year and is heard on 125 country-formatted stations across the nation. Tanner replaces Jim Phillips, who has hosted the show since its debut in 2000. "Jim’s passion for country music and stock car racing helped create a loyal group of listeners from coast to coast," said MRN Radio President David Hyatt. "The success of the program is due in large part to his dedication. We believe Rob Tanner will build on that and at the same time, broaden the show’s appeal." Since 2005, Tanner has been the morning-drive on-air personality at WSOC-FM 103.7 in Charlotte, which is owned and operated by CBS Radio. The Tanner in the Morning Show helped WSOC win the 2009 Academy of Country Music Award for Major-Market Station of the Year. WSOC has been a full-time MRN Radio affiliate since the network’s inception in 1970. Tanner, 46, is a 15-year radio veteran, and worked in Arkansas and Florida before arriving in the Carolinas four years ago. He is a native of Wickliffe, Ohio, and now resides in Charlotte with his wife Missy, and children Emily (4) and Ethan (2). |
